A&E attendances drop in Staffordshire and Cheshire

There has been a big drop in the number of people attending A&E in Staffordshire and Cheshire.

Figures out today (14 May) show that  6,903 people went to the Royal Stoke last month - compared to 15,416 in April 2019.

That is a 55% decrease.

At Crewe's Leighton Hospital 3,863 patients attended, down from  6,092 for the same month last year.

Bosses at UHNM and Mid Cheshire trusts are reminding people that the emergency department is open as normal, and no one should avoid going to A&E if they need it.
