A & E under pressure

Accident & Emergency departments across Staffordshire are coming under extreme pressure due to an influx of people.

The University Hospital of North Staffordshire saw nearly 400 people yesterday, that is up 50 patients above predicted levels for this time of year.

Outbreaks of the winter vomiting bug (Norovirus) haven't helped ease pressures. One ward is closed at Queen's Hospital in Burton and ten bays closed in two wards at Stafford Hospital because of the bug.
