A clean up operation has been taking place, after a fuel spillage in Congleton.
Emergency services were called to a report of a spillage from a tanker on A34 Rood Hill around 10:45am this morning (4 June).
Approximately 250 litres of diesel had gone onto the road, which has been closed by police.
Firefighters used specialist paste to stop the leak and specialist mats to block off grids, but a quantity of the diesel had entered the drains. The Environment Agency has been informed.
Highways England have attended to sand and grit the road.
Cheshire East Council say the A34 will be closed overnight from Rood Hill traffic lights to Giantswood Lane.
