Miller put on transfer list

Crewe striker Shaun Miller has been made available for a free transfer this summer.

It follows talks with manager Dave Artell, who says he wanted more regular football.

The 31-year-old has found it hard to hold down a regular place in the side this season, mainly due to the form of Chris Porter and Jordan Bowery.

Dave said: "I had a knock on my door and he asked whether he's going to play next season, in the system we are playing right now.

"I can't promise games to anyone, but we did start the season with 4-4-2 and he didn't get many goals.

"Now, in a 4-3-3, it does suit him less, but this is still at his request. I told him we wouldn't stand in his way.

"It's a credit to him really, he doesn't want to just pick up a wage, he wants to play and earn his money."

Assistant Manager Kenny Lunt says it was a mutual decision.

He said: "We have agreed that if a club is out there for him and he can get fixed up then we wouldn’t stand in his way.

“If it doesn’t happen and he doesn’t leave then we know that Shaun will give everything for the club like he has always done.

"It hasn’t quite worked out for him last season but we know he is a good player and you don’t have the career he has had and the clubs he has played for if you are not a good player.

“We can only see what happens and I think we would be happy either way.”
