Joyce and Pope on target as Vale ease to victory over Morecambe

Port Vale came from a goal down to beat ten men Morecambe 3-1.

Manager John Askey made two changes going into the game with Manny Oyeleke out injured and James Gibbons suspended.

Scott Burgess came into midfield while there was a debut for Will Atkinson who had signed for the club the day before on a short term deal until January.

The visitors stunned the home faithful by taking the lead on 18 minutes thanks to a rasping drive from John O'Sullivan.

The game turned on 32 minutes when Jordan Cranston was sent off for kicking out at David Worrall.

The home side turned the screw after the break, midfielder Luke Joyce equalising with a thunderbolt from the edge of the area.

Tom Pope then headed the Valiants in front on 68 minutes, before adding a second in stoppage time to seal victory.

The win lifted the Vale up to 10th in the table.

John Askey's side are back in action on Saturday when they make the short trip to take on Cheshire neighbours Macclesfield Town.
