Debutant on target as Vale progress in trophy

Port Vale are through to the knockout stages of the Checkatrade Trophy.

They topped their group after a 4-2 win over Crewe Alexandra.

Debutant Chris Regis made a dream start with a goal after only three minutes.

The 20 year-old midfielder, who had previous spells at Arsenal and Southampton has signed a deal until the end of the season.

Anton Forrester doubled the home side's lead five minutes later.

18 year-old striker Lewis Reilly, reduced the arrears for the visitors just after the half hour mark.

Substitute Billy Reeves extended Vale's lead midway through the second half, before Reilly netted his second of the game twenty minutes from time.

But Cristian Montano finally secured victory for the hosts with a fourth goal in the 90th minute.
