John Askey has been named Port Vale's new manager until the end of the season.
The 54 year old joins the Valiants alongside Dave Kevan who will also be appointed as Assistant Manager.
His appointment at Vale makes it Askey's second job with a football league club, having previously managed Shrewsbury Town in League One.
He enjoyed his most successful spell of management during the time he spent at current League Two side, Macclesfield Town, having got them promoted from the National League.
Born in Milton, Askey was actually on the books as a Vale player at youth level, following in the footsteps of his father, Colin Askey, who progressed through the club’s system to become a key player during one of the most memorable periods at Vale Park.
Port Vale Chief Executive Colin Garlick told the club's official website: "We wish John and Dave all the very best as they take up their new positions with the club. My staff and I will do all we can to support them and I ask all Valiants to do the same.
"I'd also like thank Danny Pugh, Ronnie Sinclair and Michael Tonge for stepping in last week and working in a helpful and professional manner."
