The family of a 77-year-old man who died following a collision in Holmes Chapel say he was "well loved".

Brian Bailey died following the incident outside the library on London Road on Friday evening.

In a statement his family said: “Brian was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

"He was a quiet man who kept himself to himself, but was a funny character who was well loved and known in his village of Holmes Chapel.

"Brian enjoyed his garden, collecting war memorabilia and looking after his Jack Russell dog Roxy.”

A 27-year-old man was arrested on Saturday in connection with the incident. He has subsequently been bailed pending further enquiries.
