Police investigating an assault on a man in Cheddleton have made a third arrest.
A 23-year-old man was seriously injured in the incident in Grange Road at around 8:55pm last night (16 May)
He was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital, where his condition is described as stable, but critically ill.
A man in his 20’s was arrested earlier this morning (17 May) and taken into custody for questioning in connection with the incident.
Two men in their 40’s, who were arrested last night, remain in custody.
The scene remains cordoned off while detailed forensic investigations take place.
Inspector Mark Thorley, commander of Staffordshire Moorlands Local Policing Team (LPT), said: “My officers will be on high-visibility patrol in the area over the coming days to provide support and reassurance in the community.
“A thorough investigation will now take place to establish the exact circumstances of what has happened and why.
“I would urge anyone who can help us to contact 101, or speak to the officers on patrol.”
