Staffordshire MP pays tribute to school girl crashed in crash

Staffordshire MP Michael Fabricant has paid tribute to a school girl who died when a bus carrying pupils collided with a bin lorry.

Twenty-one children were on an art trip with three teachers when the crash happened on the A38 Kingsbury Road in Castle Vale in Birmingham.

The 14-year-old girl who lost her life has been named in reports as Holly Brown. She died at the scene.

She attended John Taylor High School in Barton-under-Needwood.

Michael Fabricant MP said: “I know John Taylor High School well and have visited it on a number of occasions. It is an outstanding and happy school. I just can’t imagine how the pupils and staff must now be feeling after a fun art trip out ended in tragedy for a 14 year old pupil.

“My heart goes out to the girl’s parents and family and to the other pupils on the bus who must be traumatised and filled with grief by the experience.

“I know that Mike Donoghue, the headteacher, will do all that he can do to comfort those affected by this tragic experience.”
