Investigation launched into the cause
An investigation is underway into a fire at a flat in Sandbach.
Crews were called out to the property above a shop on Congleton Road around 1:30pm this afternoon.
Initially it was thought someone was in the flat so firefighters wearing breathing apparatus carried out a search.
All persons have been accounted for.
Five engines were used to extinguish the blaze.
Crew Manager John Brownrigg said: "Firefighters did a great job under very difficult conditions to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring properties."
One fire engine will remain at the scene this evening.
