School transport changes approved for Cheshire East

Council vote through cuts as part of savings drive

£230,000 will be saved  as school transport for religious schools has been cut by Cheshire East Council.

The authority will no longer subsidise travel for pupils whose parents choose to send them to a denominational school that isn’t their nearest school from this autumn.

The authority deferred a decision on these recommendations last year, to look closer at the impact.

A task and finish group consulted with the diocese, parents and schools, and examined the issues raised by the public during the consultation period.
