Pottery sees record sales

Export market responsible for position

Stoke On Trent pottery firm Steelite has posted record sales for the second year running.

Turnover went up 9.4 per cent to £66.3million.

The company made profits of £7.9million

Healthy order books meant production at the North Staffordshire factory also increased, and as a result the workforce has grown this year to more than 700.

With the UK officially entering recession again this week a strong international performance has boosted the results, with sales to its biggest overseas market the United States growing by 11.25 per cent.
