Port Vale confirm new chairman

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017 4:00pm

Port Vale have announced Tony Fradley as their new chairman, following Norman Smurthwaite's decision to stand down.

Norman made the announcement this morning, saying he's "seriously damaged the club".

Tony, a lifelong Vale supporter, has represented the Valiants in the capacity of President since November 2014.

He'll take over the role with immediate effect and support Chief Executive Colin Garlick and the team he is building.

The 67-year-old, who was born in Burslem and has lived in North Staffordshire all his life, said: “It’s an honour and a privilege to be appointed as Chairman.

"I’ve been a supporter since the 1950’s so I’m totally committed to the long term success of the club.

"I’m very much looking forward to working with the management team to get to where we want to be in terms of taking the club forward”.
