21-year-old Shakeeb Zamir has today been sentenced to 12 months behind bars, following the death of 7-year-old Kayden Dunn.
His black Volvo XC90 collided with the schoolboy pedestrian on Repington Road in Sneyd Green on 14 April 2016.
Kayden passed away in Birmingham Children's Hospital five days later.
A detailed investigation into the circumstances of the collision was carried out by Staffordshire Police's Collision Investigation Unit.
Zamir previous admitted causing death by careless driving, and was today (19 May) sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court to 12 months in prison.
He was also handed a two-year driving ban, which will begin upon his release from prison.
He will also have to take an extended retest.
