Local people receive recognition

A number of people have been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honour's List.

Macclesfield born Sarah Burton, who designed Kate Middleton's dress for the Royal Wedding last year gets an OBE.

The Deputy Chief Constable of Staffordshire police Douglas Paxton gets the Queen's Police Medal.

Karen Watkins (pictured), Director of Corporate Service at Cheshire police gets an MBE, for services to policing.

Archer Alison Williamson from Stafford gets an MBE, as does Winifred Lewis the Principal at Stafford School of Dance.

Lynda Kappes, Assistant Headteacher at Middlewich County High School, gets an MBE for service to education.

Prostate cancer campaigner Gary Steele from Cheshire, gets an MBE for his work in raising awareness of the disease.

Elizabeth Gooch, founder and Chief Executive of Stafford based EG Solutions will also be made an MBE for services to the financial sector.
