
A runner and athletics coach who was told he would never walk again following a childhood illness has carried the Olympic Torch through the streets of Stoke-on-Trent today.
55 year old Philip Greer from Bucknall, contracted rheumatic fever, paralysing him from the waist down, when he was six and was expected to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.
However, within two years of the diagnosis, Philip began a long arduous rehabilitation.
He spoke to Signal's Jenny Bonson before carrying the torch through Middleport today about how far he has come...
