1972 League Cup reunion for Stoke City's players

Sunday, March 12th, 2017 9:25am

Stoke City's League Cup winners are being honoured today.

They are going on a victory parade around the City's streets on the same bus that was used 45 years ago.

It is then followed by a civic reception.

The day will start off with a vintage car rally on the main car park outside the bet365 Stadium from 9am.

Then at 12pm, the same single-decker Lymers bus which took the players around the city on their victory parade 45 years ago will set off on an hour-long tour of the Potteries, followed by a cavalcade of vehicles and the heroes of ‘72 on a double decker open-top bus.

After making its way along Stanley Matthews Way, the procession will turn left towards Longton before taking in Weston Coyney Road, Weston Road, Park Hall Road, Dividy Road, Limekiln traffic lights and left onto Leek Road (A52) all the way to the Civic Centre in Glebe Street.

The coach will then stop at the Kings Hall where the players will be treated to a civic dinner, while the remainder of the cavalcade will carry on home.
